Bookkeeper
Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting corporate financial operations and bookkeeping functions. Responsibilities include invoice processing, account reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable activities, cash management, maintaining financial records, and assisting with reporting and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of improving processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Process invoices, including coding and entry into the accounting system.
- Review and process payments with appropriate supporting documentation and approvals.
- Prepare and process daily and weekly bank deposits.
- Record revenue receipts and journal entries in the accounting system.
- Collect, maintain, and monitor vendor documentation, including W-9 forms and certificates of insurance.
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries related to third-party property management activities.
- Maintain financial records, agreements, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and process annual 1099 forms, ensuring compliance with IRS reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit annual regulatory and compliance filings.
- Assist with special projects related to real estate development and financial analysis.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Provide financial and administrative support to senior finance leadership as needed.
- Serve as backup support for accounting and bookkeeping functions.
- Maintain reporting calendars and ensure timely completion of required filings and reports.
- Scan, organize, and maintain electronic document files.
- Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.
Education & Experience
One of the following combinations is required:
- Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR
- Associate degree and 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Additional qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of construction accounting preferred.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or multi-funded organization is preferred.
- Knowledge of property management accounting is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with real estate development accounting.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance reporting.
- Experience managing vendor records and financial documentation.
- Prior experience supporting audits and financial reporting processes.
